Benazir BhuttoBhut·to, Ben·a·zir /ˈbuːtəʊ, ˈbenæzɪə $ -toʊ, -zɪr/  (1953–2007) the leader of the Pakistan People's Party, which was started by her father, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. She became prime minister in 1988, and in 1993 she was elected a second time. In 1996 she was forced to leave her position and live in exile because some people believed she had used government money dishonestly. She returned to Pakistan in 2007 and was killed in a bomb attack while she was campaigning to be elected prime minister for a third time.
