a serious British daily newspaper which usually supports the ideas of the Conservative Party. Although many types of people read The Daily Telegraph, including many young business-people, the typical Telegraph reader is often thought of as a retired (=someone who does not work any more) army officer with very old-fashioned, traditional ideas.
