Rodgers, Richard /ˈrɒdʒəz $ ˈrɑːdʒərz/
(1902–79) a US composer who wrote the music for many musicals (=films or plays that use singing and dancing to tell a story) with the songwriters Lorenz hart and Oscar Hammerstein. The musicals that Rodgers and Hart wrote together include Babes in Arms and Pal Joey, and those that Rodgers and Hammerstein wrote together include Oklahoma!, The King and I, South Pacific, and The Sound of Music.
