Tan·za·ni·a /ˌtænzəˈniːə/  a country in East Africa between Kenya and Mozambique, formed in 1964 when Tanganyika and Zanzibar joined together to make one country. Population: 48,261,942 (2014). Capital: Dodoma. Most of the government departments are located in the country's largest city, Dar es Salaam, which is also the country's major port (=place where ships are loaded and unloaded).
